Copying off V+ box to pc

Hi can anyone help please.  I have the Virgin V+ box and i have tried connecting it to my ACER lap top using a HDMI cable but the computer does not find it.  Is it possible to transfer the recorded programmes off the hard drive onto my lap top? Thanks

Re: Copying off V+ box to pc

To my knowledge there's no easy way as the ESATA and USB ports on the VM box have been deliberately disabled to prevent people doing this.  There are roundabout ways but most of them are very time consuming and awkward such as transferring to a DVD recorder via. the second scart on the box and then re-encoding from the resultant DVD. There's also a way via. an Archos Personal Video Player (and Dock) but that will need the outlay for the gadget first.

VM don't seem to want people to transfer the saved programmes and have made quite an effort to block it from being done. neutral
