Top Gear Returns

BBC2 8pm

The terrible trio return and stage a race between London and Edinburgh 1950's style.  Clarkson gets to be stoker on a steam train, Hamster rides a Vincent motorbike and Captain Slow gets behind the wheel of a Jaguar Xk120.

There's also the promise of the unmasking of the Stig although being on the internet we all know who it is anyway and it's likely to be some sort of joke.

Very irrelevant as a motoring show but often hugely entertaining as in last seasons special in Vietnam showing what a stunning beautiful place it can be.

Now my fathers first job after the army was as a stoker on the old GWR line so I have a hard time seeing Clarkson being up to the task.  My old man had just spent five years in the Paratroop regiment and even he found it a tough job so I suspect some cheating to take place.

Re: Top Gear Returns

Now that's a scary prospect.  Not the silly shiny toys that will benefit but Clarksons ever expanding gut in high resolution and we get to see how old Hammond actually looks. 7

Plus of course we get to continue the game of how many politicians Clarkson can offend in a single show which is always fun.

Re: Top Gear Returns

HD was worth the 4 hours of my V+ HDD space it consumed....

Those lingering bonnet shots with a reflection of the sky really did show up the poor upscaling - HD isnt perfect by any means, but it does look pretty wink

Re: Top Gear Returns

7.45pm this coming Sunday is one of their challenge specials set in South America and if the Vietnam one is any guide should be well worth watching.
