Quick guide to PWP Web pages
Using your PWP
This is intended as a quick guide to using your PWP, which you can apply for in the Self Care section of blueyonders website. Before applying for your PWP space, you need to make sure you have at least one e-mail alias set up in blueyonder Self-Care
Once you have applied, allow up to 15 minutes for your web space to be created - after which you can start uploading files to your site.
You cannot create PWP based on an alias with an underscore or a full stop in it, as these are invalid characters in DNS.
Your URL for viewing your site will be in this format :
www.<aliasname>.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk
or
www.<aliasname>.myby.co.uk
The upload information for your PWP is as follows:
ftp.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk
You will need to make/use this in the settings of whichever software you use when uploading your files to your PWP space, usually an FTP program.
Microsoft FrontPage users who upload via HTTP (which enables FP extensions to be used) should use this format:
www.<aliasname>.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk
NOTE:- The platform is on UNIX servers, which are case sensitive, If you have used capitals in your FP web , you will need to be certain all your files/links are low case. There is a script that will fix this problem here
There is guide here for configuring WS_FTP ftp software and other guides are available on the blueyonder's web site at:
What does the platform offer?
The latest version of the FrontPage Server Extensions (FP 2002/XP - versions) for customers who are using FrontPage to make their site more interactive.
The ZISP toolset for customers who do not wish to use FrontPage but still want to add interactivity to their site. These tools enable you to do a lot more with your site - add a counter, an e-mail form, a guest book etc.
The ZISP Toolset/Guide is available via the blueyonder help siteA range of reports on your site traffic (i.e. how many people are looking at your site, and when they looked) - This will be delivered via blueyonder's Self-Care section at:- http://selfcare.blueyonder.co.uk.
You will be able to see just how much of your available web space you have used, again via Self-Care.
The platform will also offer you some excellent scripting tools for more advanced website designers.
